Joko Widodo or known as Jokowi, was born in Surakarta, 21 June 1961. He is the eldest son in the family, he has three younger sisters. He graduated from Gadjah Mada University in 1985. Jokowi married his wife, Iriana, on 24 December 1986. Together they have three children.
Jokowi began his political career by running as Mayor of Surakarta candidate in 2005. He won 36,62% of the vote against his rivals. In 2012, he won the Jakarta province gubernatorial election together with his running mate, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or known as Ahok. In 2014, he won the presidential election by 53,15% of the vote against Prabowo.
